The image of the DRC promoted to investors in Monaco

Kinshasa, June 2nd, 2025 (CPA). – The image of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) was promoted to foreign investors during a working session on the sidelines of the Formula 1 final race in Monaco by the Minister in charge of Industry, the CPA learnt on Monday from an official source. ‘We went to the Formula 1 final to sell the country’s image and promote it to both private and institutional investors, as part of the Head of State’s vision on all political, diplomatic, cultural and other fronts to restore the country’s image and its sovereignty,’ said Louis Watum Kabamba, Minister of Industry and SME Development. ‘The Principality of Monaco, which is at the heart of Europe, is an incredible financial power, and so they had the privilege of meeting a huge number of investors interested in the DRC. They preached the DRC to them, and we had working sessions to explain the country’s potential, and above all to listen to their concerns,’ he said. In addition, the Minister said he had sensed an appetite for investing in the DRC, and of course apprehensions about the business climate, governance and perceptions filtering through the international media.  He added that in the coming weeks, they plan to organize a major economic conference with these investors to see how to institutionalize the economic relationship between the DRC and Monaco.  He also pointed out that they had had the opportunity to meet fellow countryman and musician Maître Gims, with whom they had exchanged views, saying that the singer had a very profound vision of how to boost the DRC’s economy. ‘I make no secret of the fact that 70% of the artists emerging in France today are Congolese, even in sport, and these are rich people, because the industry is not just mining or brewing, it’s also artistic and musical, so we need to capitalize on this talent and create the necessary conditions to create super champions in all these fields,’ he concluded.
