The UN calls for full trade sanctions against Israel

Kinshasa, July 3rd, 2025 (CPA/IRNA).- The Special Rapporteur of the United Nations on the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories has called for an arms embargo against Israel and a total suspension of all trade relations and investments with that regime, IRNA has reported.  « Francesca Albanese has urged the UN member States to impose a total arms embargo on the Israeli regime and to cease all trade, financial and investment relations with Israel in part of her speech, » the source has written.  In her new report at a session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva, she has described the situation in Gaza as ‘one of the most merciless genocides in contemporary history, » asserting that Israel is responsible for « one of the most merciless genocides in contemporary history » in the Gaza Strip.

A situation in Gaza described as ‘apocalyptic’

Indeed, Francesca Albanese has also described the so-called ‘Humanitarian Fund for Gaza’ as a ‘death trap’ aimed, in her view, at ‘killing or forcing the displacement of the population’.  This United Nations expert had already, in her previous reports, vigorously denounced the massive human rights violations in Gaza and severely criticised the continued military and financial support of Western countries for the Israeli regime.

The Iranian Red Crescent condemns Israeli strikes on its convoys

In addition, the president of the Red Crescent Society of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Pir-Hossein Kolivand, has declared last Wednesday that the targeting of emergency ambulances is a flagrant and concrete example of a war crime, proving that the Israeli regime does not respect any rules or principles of international law and human rights.  During the ceremony paying tribute to the martyrs of the Iranian power, which was held in Tir at the Imam Khomeini Grand Mosque in Tehran, Mr Kolivand has added:  » 80 countries around the world have sent us individual messages condemning Israel’s savage attack, » adding that these expressions of solidarity will be used in legal proceedings and complaints filed with the relevant international bodies.  He has remembered that one of the main missions of the Iranian Red Crescent during the 12-day war was relief, rescue and search operations, which have been accomplished with honour, despite the difficulties, the state of war and the massive bombings, thanks to the voluntary and courageous mobilisation of rescue workers.  The president of the Red Crescent has also mentioned that five rescue workers were killed and thirty wounded during these operations.  CPA/JF
