Kinshasa, June 25th, 2025 (CPA)- Thirty public sites have been recuperated by the Ministry in charge of Urban Planning and Housing, thanks to the reforms and actions undertaken in the sector, according to the progress report presented on Wednesday in Kinshasa, capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, on the occasion of the first anniversary of the Suminwa government, CPA has learnt from an official source. ‘Among the major advances, I have recuperated around thirty public sites and buildings that were previously occupied illegally, including emblematic places in Kinshasa such as the Mandela roundabout and Place Royale’, has declared Crispin Mbadu, Minister in charge of Urban Planning and Housing. On the administrative front, Crispin Mbadu has reported that revenues from building permits have tripled, reflecting improved tax mobilisation thanks to Operation Zero Tolerance: the fight against property crime. He has also mentioned the strict capping of rental guarantees at three months for housing and six months for commercial premises. No new service station construction permits are currently being issued, a sign of the vigilance being shown in preserving the urban environment and ensuring harmonious planning, he has said. The Minister has also reaffirmed his commitment to continuing to modernise the sector, in line with the vision of the Head of State, Felix Tshisekedi, centred on good governance and the strengthening of public authority.
