Kinshasa, April 19th, 2025 (CPA) – The support of the world’s trade unionists in calling for peace in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo was solicited at the International Labor Congress held from April 18th to 19th, 2025 in Ankara (Turkey), the Congolese delegation informed us on Saturday. “We have asked for the support and accompaniment of the world’s trade unionists in calling for peace in the east of the DRC. We also asked for their support in the fight against the armed groups ravaging the provinces of North and South Kivu,” said Hervé Kambinyam, Deputy Secretary General of the Democratic Confederation of Labor. During the congress, he said, the congress advocated inclusive, fair and sustainable workplaces, and encouraged dialogue on global labor trends, the fair distribution of income and the evolution of trade union structures.   Through the round tables and forums, Mr. Kambinyam indicated that the congress participants found a sure opportunity to share their experiences and contribute to shaping a fairer digital work future. Furthermore, the Deputy General Secretary of the Democratic Labor Confederation recalled the general objective of these assizes, which was to promote dialogue and exchanges between global labor actors in order to face the transformations caused by digitalization in the world of work. “Inclusive models for trade union transformation were on the discussion menu among the world’s trade union leaders present at the Ankara congress”, he said.

Themed “Work, digitization and social justice”, the congress organized by Memur-sen, Turkey’s largest public sector trade union confederation, brought together union leaders, labor experts and academics from around the world to explore the intersection of work, technology and equity in society, the source said. Founded on values of justice, solidarity and labor rights, Memur-Sen campaigns to improve working conditions for civil servants and actively contributes to international trade union movements. ACP/
