Kinshasa, April 9th, 2025(CPA) – The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is taking part in the 2nd UN Summit on Tourism for Africa and the Americas, which is being held from April 8th to 10th, 2025 in Livingstone (Republic of Zambia), CPA learnt on Wednesday from an official source. The Democratic Republic of Congo is taking part in the second UN Summit on Tourism for Africa and the Americas, which aims to strengthen the cultural and economic links between Africa and the Americas, by highlighting the potential of sustainable tourism as an engine for development and for bringing people together’, said the Minister in charge of Tourism, Didier M’pambia Musanga.
For Minister in charge Didier M’pambia, this is an opportunity to take the floor from the international podium to announce and confirm the organization of the first World Festival of Music and Tourism, from 16 to 18 July in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, by officially inviting Mr Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary General of UN Tourism. Mr Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary General of UN Tourism, thanked Minister in charge M’piamba for his initiative in organising the first festival in the DRC, while welcoming and confirming his presence and his contribution to the success of the event.
The conference, which will be launched in July, will be a link between music and tourism. As this is a first for the United Nations for Tourism, we are expecting the participation of various groups from all over the world’, explained the UN Tourism SG. He pointed out that the main theme of this first festival in the DRC is ‘music, peace and unity’. This second UN summit on tourism follows the one in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, where the initiative was launched by the DRC, through the minister in charge of tourism, to organize the first world music and tourism festival in Kinshasa.
