Kinshasa, September 1st, 2021 (CPA).- The griot Martin Mawedi declared Tuesday during an interview with the CPA, that he is looking for support to exercise his musical profession, consisting of giving minute concerts in places public throughout the city of Kinshasa throughout the day.
He said he experiences several difficulties including the lack of producer, the lack of adequate instruments, and especially the lack of mobility necessary to roam the terraces, markets, places of mourning, and other public places where he can s ‘attract people and steer him, just by his voice and his modest locally made guitar.
Martin Mawedi, in his twenties, is an artist devoted to « traveling folk » music, which he began in 2006 as a means of earning a living in the province of Kwilu, in the territory of Masimanimba. It was with his idol named Muzeza Makiese who taught him to play the guitar and sing in the languages of his home, namely: Kiseku, Kiyaka, and Kikongo, while exploiting themes related to life social, such as his usual song “Tshia mulende” which translates into French as “Perseverance”.
