The Minister of Culture and the General Delegate for La Francophonie discuss the promotion of the cultural industry in the DRC

Kinshasa, July 10th, 2021 (CPA) .- The Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Catherine Kathungu Furaha discussed Thursday in her office, in the town of Gombe, with the General Delegate for La Francophonie, Ms. Néfertiti Tshibanda around the promotion of the cultural industry in the DRC.

At the end of this audience, the delegate general indicated that the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) and the Government are working to support several projects and programs in the cultural sector, with a view to generating employment in the DRC, in through the supervisory ministry.

These exchanges also focused on the inventory of the various support and support programs on cultural and artistic policies as well as various programs to be put into action in particular, that related to the policy of public reading in the DRC, a she added, stressing that all these steps are being considered so that the DRC can experience a cultural blossoming that is truly beneficial to the populations, through several social actions that reduce unemployment.

She promised the forthcoming composition of a steering committee whose mission will be to follow up on all these actions.

Addressing the question relating to the upcoming organization of the Games of La Francophonie in Kinshasa, she said she was optimistic about its unfolding despite the harmful effects of the 3rd wave of COVID-19, before encouraging all parties involved in the preparations for this event, to work more.
