Towards the establishment of an evaluation and adoption commission of the law on cultural policy

Kinshasa, August 7th, 2021 (CPA).- The Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage, Catherine Kathungu Furaha, received, Thursday, a delegation from the Collectif des Artistes et des Culturelles (CAC), who came to propose the establishment of ‘a commission for the evaluation and adoption of the law relating to cultural policy in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The minister has, in fact, promised the involvement of her ministry for the establishment of the above-mentioned commission as well as a perfect collaboration with the collective structure of artists and cultural (CAC), The coordinator of this structure , Paul Ngoie Kabongo Le perc, who led the delegation, indicated that the rapprochement with the supervisory ministry through the said commission, aims at the implementation and follow-up of the resolutions of the Forum of artists and cultural organized last year.

For him, these resolutions have made it possible to update the preliminary draft law on cultural policy, so that it can be tabled and adopted in the National Assembly. At the same time, he pleaded for a resumption of cultural activities in this period of the Coronavirus pandemic, where artists and cultural operators are experiencing enormous difficulties in making a living from their art and related events.
