Bukavu, April 13th, 2021 (CPA) .- The synergy of the coordination of coin changers in Congo has invited the provincial commissioner of the Congolese National Police (PNC) to proceed with the evacuation of the changers of unrecognized coins, in order to remit order in this sector, indicates a correspondence from this organization made public last weekend, a copy of which was received Tuesday at the CPA.
According to the coordinator of this synergy in South Kivu, Emmanuel Sumuni Bilibuces, people not recognized by the public authorities cannot exercise the foreign exchange trade in order to avoid the injection of counterfeit banknotes which is insecurity for legal changers and monetary instability.
He condemned the illegal practice of currency exchange in the provinces before asking the provincial police commissioner to help the money changers improve their image and that of the country. In Bukavu, sellers and traders improvise money changers, each setting their own rate, thus creating a climate of distrust among the population vis-à-vis legal changers, it is noted.
