Consultations to review the prices of basic necessities in the DRC

Kinshasa, May 29th, 2021 (CPA).- The director of the cabinet of the Minister of National Economy, Guylain Malere, on behalf of the minister, gathered around him at the government hotel, importers of basic necessities, in in order to prune the differences between the prices observed by the economic inspectors after the missions carried out on the ground, learned Friday the CPA of this ministry.

To this end, the inspectors of the economy who carried out control missions in the companies, warehouses and cold rooms of importers of frozen products, were surprised by the differences in the price structures charged by some companies. They pointed out that the prices of products from one corner are diversified. To this end, the government through the Ministry of the Economy, by mutual agreement with the stakeholders agreed that the Federation of Enterprises of Congo (FEC) do internal harmonization work before returning at the beginning of next week for a compromise aimed at lowering the prices of all these imported products.

It should be noted that in their desideratas, the importers pleaded for the Minister of National Economy to invest more so that the State services which are not called upon to work in the ports and border posts be definitively abolished. Another situation which does not make it easy for importers is the decision taken by the provincial authorities to operate heavy-duty trucks only at night. ACP/Fng/nig
