Kinshasa, May 6th, 2021 (CPA).- France through its Ambassador in DR-Congo, François Pujolas, signed on Tuesday, in Kinshasa, an agreement of 6 million euros in favor of the project (HUAMSI), under financial support of Hexagon intended for the materialization of the said project, indicated the French diplomat in an interview with the press.
HUAMSI project, he said, is a term taken from the Swahili language which means “health care”.
Ambassador PUJOLAS who was accompanied by the General Director of CARE France represented by Mrs. Aline Ouedraego, Country Director of CARE International in DR-Congo and the Director of the French Development Agency in DR-Congo (AFD), Didier Grebert, noted that this project is part of the strategic axes developed in the Franco-Congolese roadmap to fight Ebola and other epidemics, adopted on November 12th, 2019, during the visit to France of the President of the Republic Felix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo.
It contributes to the implementation of the health security action plan of the Congolese government and aims to contribute to the strengthening of the primary and secondary health system, so that it is accessible to all layers of the population and resilient in the face of epidemic shocks.
This project also aims to achieve a cross-cutting objective of reducing gender inequalities which results in the implementation of specific activities in each component of the project.
François Pujolas indicated that the implementation of the said project will also make it possible to achieve the six specific objectives assigned, among others: improving the state of health of the populations of the areas of Beni and Butembo, means a little over 700. 000 people, by combining rapid results and positive impacts in the medium term; improving the availability and quality of primary and secondary health services; reduction of maternal and infant and child morbidity and mortality; strengthening the management and operation of primary and secondary health care services; improving health accountability and governance; strengthening of epidemic prevention and response mechanisms.
He noted that special attention will be paid to the most vulnerable people, including returnees, displaced people, women and girls, people living with disabilities and other marginalized groups through specific activities. ACP /
