Nicolas Kazadi and Gunter Nooke agree to concretize the strategic partnership between the DRC and Germany

Kinshasa, September 14th, 2021 (CPA).- The Minister in charge of Finance, Nicolas Kazadi and the personal representative of the German Chancellor in charge of Africa, Gunter Nooke, agreed on Monday, September 14th in Kinshasa, to strengthen economic cooperation between the Federal Republic of Germany and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the CPA learned Tuesday from the Ministry of Finance. The source indicates that the two personalities have examined the partnership between the two states, to make improvements aimed at development. Nicolas Kazadi took the opportunity to recall the need to review the criteria for apprehending African risk in general, and Congolese in particular, in order to reap the performance that is present in the DRC. For example, in 2020, he announced that the country experienced a gross domestic product (GDP) growth of 1.7%, where the African average was negative, because strongly impacted by the Covid crisis -19.

The Minister of Finance did not fail to raise the level of ongoing reforms aimed at improving governance and the business environment in the country. Accompanied, during the meeting by the German Ambassador to the DRC, Dr SCHNAKENBERG, the personal representative of Chancellor Angela Merkel, said he was satisfied with the quality of the exchanges of views he had with the Congolese Minister finances. For the German ambassador, it is time for the DRC and Germany to reorient their economic cooperation, with the aim of improving investment conditions for German industry. “I remain convinced that this partnership will be beneficial, particularly for the Congolese population through the creation of sustainable jobs. The Minister of Finance is a very receptive man, very open and ready to give us all his support for the successful outcome of this economic cooperation, « he said. The visit of the personal representative of the German Chancellor follows the visit of the Congolese President, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo to Berlin on August 27. The discussions focused on countless projects which will materialize in a short time. For taking an active part in this summit called: Compact with Africa, the Minister of Finance Nicolas Kazadi is well imbued with the German vision through their investments in the DRC. ACP/
