Kinshasa, July 10th, 2021 (CPA).- Thirty (30) Judicial police officers with restricted jurisdiction of the Special Unit for the Protection of the Environment (USPE), were sworn in before the public prosecutor at the Court of great authority of Kinshasa-Gombe, after having followed an academic training in environmental matters.
In her remarks, the Commissioner General in charge of the Environment, Laetitia Bena Kabamba, indicated that these new OPJs were formed on the basis of the order of the governor of the city of Kinshasa, of November 24, 2020, establishing an operational technical unit called USPE.
According to her, this is a strong act that will better guide actions in terms of sanitation in the city of Kinshasa and its protection.
For his part, Me Freddy Bozenke, chief of staff and representative of the governor of the city of Kinshasa, first thanked the President of the Republic, Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, for the meaning of his commitment to restore the rule of law. , before thanking the public prosecutor at the Kinshasa-Gombe public prosecutor’s office for having responded favorably to the expectations of the city with precise guidelines for the realization of this ambitious project.
He said that the operationalization of the USPE will serve not only as a link with the offices of public prosecutors near the high courts of the capital, but also as a secular arm of the technical and administrative services as the police. rapid intervention in environmental matters to sanction offenders.
While congratulating the sworn in on the new responsibility, he called on them to realize the magnitude of the burden they now carry, arguing that the entire city’s spotlight is on them.
After receiving the oath of the OPJ, the public prosecutor at the Kinshasa-Gombe tribunal de grande instance reminded the new officers of the meaning of their commitment which is to serve the Republic, as well as the city with loyalty, integrity and dedication. . They also have an obligation to bring to the attention of the public prosecutor any information relating to the facts, he said.
