Slight appreciation of the Congolese franc against the US dollar during the week from April 5th to 11th

Kinshasa, April 12th, 2021 (CPA).– The Congolese franc (FC) appreciated slightly against the US dollar (USD) during the week from April 5th to 11th, 2021, trading at 1.997 (one thousand nine hundred and eighty -six-seven) FC against 1.998 (one thousand nine hundred and ninety-eight) FC the week of March 29th to April 4th, noted the CPA. At the same time, the national currency remained stable changing at CDF 2,000 (two thousand).

This stability is the result of the Stability Pact signed between the government and the Central Bank of Congo (BCC) aiming to spend only according to the revenue generated expenditure on a cash basis. The same stability is also due to the economic recovery drawn from the improvement in the prices of raw materials, in particular copper and cobalt. This recovery meant that economic growth could stand at 0.8% at the end of the 2020 period.

All other things being equal, the improvement in commodity prices could influence economic growth, it is indicated.
