Bukavu, July 24th, 2021 (CPA).– A delegation of experts from the National Electricity Company (SNEL), has been staying in Idjwi since Monday July 19 for an assessment mission before the start of the electrification project on this island located in the province of South Kivu.
According to the head of the delegation, Ir Deo Mashali, his team is in Kashovu in the Ntambuka chiefdom in the south of the island for an inventory. He said that the electric current will come from the Miti group, in the neighboring territory of Kabare on the high voltage line that serves the city of Goma and already has transformers, cables, wires, insulators and wooden poles. for the electrification works of the island territory of Idjwi.
It is since colonial times that the island territory of Idwji, near the city of Bukavu in South Kivu, Kivu and that of Goma in North Kivu as well as the neighboring country, Rwanda, has never been supplied with electric current from SNEL, it will be recalled. ACP/Fng/nig
