Kinshasa, June 25th, 2021 (CPA).– The Congolese government, through the Minister of Finance, Nicolas Kazadi, granted Thursday, on the instruction of President Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshsilombo, a monthly envelope of USD 2.7 million to the governor of the city of Kinshasa, Gentiny Ngobila, to support the sanitation sector.
The signing of the act of engagement was made between the Minister of Finance Nicolas Kazadi, who represented the government and the governor of the city Gentiny Ngobila.
The Minister of Finance, Nicolas Kazadi specified that this commitment made by the government is in line with the logic of reaffirming the priority given to questions of sanitation and environmental protection.
He said that the City of Kinshasa has in the state budget, a line that is used for its investments and its operation, before pointing out that two million seven hundred thousand US dollars (2.7 million USD ) will be allocated to the city for the first month of June, and two million US dollars will be allocated regularly each month from July.
Governor Ngobila, for this purpose, recognized that the city of Kinshasa is experiencing enormous difficulties in sanitation, with its 10,000 tons of waste that it produces every day.
The urban authority has admitted that this first envelope of 2.7 million US dollars, which will be allocated at the end of this month, will allow the city to significantly solve the problem of refuse.
The governor of the city of Kinshasa also indicated that this commitment made by the Sama Lukonde government is part of the financial support that each country in the world grants to its capital in terms of sanitation and protection of the environment.
He invited the Kinshasa population to get involved in this vast program of sanitation of the city, through the change of mentalities. « Only money cannot solve anything, » hammered the governor of the city of Kinshasa. ACP/
