Kinshasa, April 12th, 2021 (CPA).- The non-profit organization “to pesa Elikya” pleaded with the government on Saturday for the assistance of Homes for the elderly in this period of the health crisis of covid-19, said the president of this ASBL Bruce Musombwa during a support visit to the home for the elderly of Kabinda in the municipality of Lingwala, as part of the feast of Pascale.
According to President Musombwa, it was following an investigation of the various raids carried out by this non-profit organization that it was revealed that these retirement homes are receiving little assistance from the state during this period of covid-19.
« We therefore call on the government to put in place an emergency strategy to assist the elderly in this period of health crisis, to give them hope, by strengthening the supervision of these establishments in order to support the vision of the President of the Republic Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi who advocates the improvement of the living conditions of the Congolese and social justice.
We also appeal to people of goodwill to provide for these people, ”said Bruce Musombwa. Mr. Erick Eale, a member of this structure said that after an interview with these elderly people that he felt the need these residents feel, in particular the lack of medical care.
The non-profit organization « To pesa Elikya » brought basic food and non-food items to these elderly people in its game bag. A meal was organized by this team in a friendly atmosphere.
The home for the elderly in Kabinda is made up of nine widowers and eleven widows, it is said.
