Congolese women in civil society invite the Prime Minister to materialize the will of the Head of State

Kinshasa, April 31, 2021 (CPA).- Women from civil society and political groups gathered around the Congolese women’s consultation framework (CAFCO) on Wednesday invited the Prime Minister, Jean Michel Sama Lukonde to materialize the political will of the head of the State, Felix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, that of respect for article 14 of the Constitution which enshrines parity between men and women and to send it only lists containing a balanced number of women and men.

In a statement at CAFCO headquarters in Kinshasa, on the occasion of the closing of the month of March, dedicated to activities related to women’s rights, these political and social actors deplored the resistance of the leaders of parties and political groups to be aligned women on ministerial lists, stressing that this constitutes a blockage for the publication of the new government.

They therefore urged these party and political group leaders to respect the 30% quota reserved for female representation in state institutions and to do the same when presenting the lists to the head of government, emphasizing the fact that if they do not, they will be held accountable to the national and international community for injustices done to women.

In addition, these social and political actors welcomed the political will of the Head of State expressed in front of the exceptional women, received in audience on March 8th, to see at least 30% of women be responsible in the next government. . ACP/
