Bukavu, April 31, 2021 (CPA).- The club of women mentors of South Kivu has just requested an emergency fund in favor of their peers in the border and cross-border petty trade sector currently financially broke due to the Covid 19 pandemic and its consequences, during an advocacy activity organized by USAID, CPA learned Tuesday from sources close to this structure.
One of the women mentors who took part in these meetings, Nabintu Balagizi, said that their advocacy was motivated by the current state in which these women find themselves without access to credit and whose commercial activities are paralyzed following the border closures.
They have already exhausted all their assets because of the persistence of the crisis linked to COVID-19, hence their appeal to the competent authorities to come to their aid by granting them small loans in order to restart their economic activities.
These meetings, organized within the framework of International Women’s Day celebrated this year under the national theme « female leadership of excellence, egalitarian and digital society in the time of COVID-19 », saw the participation of the provincial government, from the club of women mentors of Sud Kivu as well as their partner, the association « Amani kwa wote », we inform.
