Goma, June 25th, 2021 (CPA).– The number of street children commonly known as « Shégués » is increasing day by day in the tourist town of Goma in the province of North Kivu, the CPA noted Thursday.
According to this observation, the number of her street children join forces every day and travel all over the city, regardless of age. Asked by the press, some of them said to have accepted this life and others not because they are always intimidated by adults who send them to go stealing.
Once they refuse, said one of her children, they are seriously beaten up by their elders. The less aged live by collecting irons commonly called « Bishuma », others by collecting embers in order to go and resell them and still others empty the trash cans in Nganda, foodstuffs and in some houses in the city of Goma. .
Among them, some refuse to return to the paternal home for fear of a difficult life led by their parents and still others have committed damage or even expelled from their family members where they lived after the death of two parents.
Hence, they call on the government and international and local organizations to come to their aid so that they return to their normal life so that they are supervised in certain learning centers, namely the normal school. ACP/
