The Minister of Gender is committed to taking into account the recommendations from the CAFCO workshop

Kinshasa, July 24th,  2021 (CPA).- The Minister of Gender, Family and Children, Gisèle Ndaya, has undertaken to take into account in the agenda of her ministry, all the recommendations resulting from the capacity building workshop members of the Permanent Consultative Framework for Congolese Women (CAFCO) from the 10 provinces and that of the city of Kinshasa on the “Washing approach” organized by this platform from July 20th to 22nd, 2021 with the support of the Nations Program United Nations Development (UNDP).

 Minister Gisèle Ndaya, who has promised to get involved in their implementation, in her ad hoc statement read by her chief of staff, Pitshou Nkoy, indicated that the Washing approach is a governance mechanism chosen by CAFCO, in its quality as an umbrella structure, in the light of the imperative of gender traceability in institutional reforms. She thus called on the participants to get rid of bad practices and to act differently in order to improve governance and the living conditions of men and women in society in this period of « generations of equality ».

« I trust that these reflections will help the participants to integrate the innovations of the new concept for the advancement of the gender agenda in the country, » said Ms. Ndaya.

 According to the Minister of Gender, the promotion of gender meets the requirements of the Head of State, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, in the overhaul of a State respectful of rights and freedoms, values ​​putting the Congolese man at the center and the Congolese woman, witnesses of the differences in the various appointments in the decision-making spheres in the country.

Adapt and innovate CAFCO

The Secretary General of CAFCO, Adine D’or Omokoko invited the participants to make projections in the future regarding the implementation of the recommendations resulting from these meetings and to appropriate the roadmap to adapt and innovate CAFCO. , an advocacy platform that should focus on other themes besides those relating to women’s political participation, peace and security.

According to Adine D’or Omokoko, it is imperative to decline the themes contained in the roadmap, in particular the agricultural value chain, the environment and climate change, elections and leadership, international negotiations, the rule of rights. and access to justice as well as stabilization and resilience.

For her part, UNDP representative Xavérine Kira noted that her organization was honored and said she was satisfied with the work done for three days around the « Washing » approach.

The workshop, she stressed, wanted to allow participants to understand the reforms, to master the said approach, and the issues around the ongoing institutional reform processes concerning the integration of the gender dimension.

The UNDP, said Xavérine Kira, makes the gender issue its hobbyhorse so that development is integral and that the expertise of recipients is proven in all areas.

According to this UNDP expert, this workshop aimed, among other things, at the professionalization of CAFCO members, before expressing the wish to see CAFCO subsequently equipped with the tools to demonstrate the expertise acquired in order to contribute to the development of the country.
