The « Nothing Without Women Movement » welcomes the involvement of the Congolese government in the fight against GBV

Bukavu, June 25th, 2021 (CPA).– The « Nothing without women movement » welcomed Thursday the involvement of the Congolese government in the fight against gender-based violence (GBV), said Friday, Ms. Solange Bashige, member of the provincial coordination of this female structure in Bukavu, during an interview with the CPA.

Ms. Bashige clarified that the campaign to fight against crimes of sexual violence based on gender is an indicator that proves, rightly, that the Congolese government is behind this issue which has been on the agenda of the women’s caucus for several years. .

She urged the central government to speed up the process of investigating cases pending before the courts so that perpetrators of crimes of sexual violence are held accountable and sentenced in accordance with the relevant law.

The « Zero tolerance against GBV » campaign was launched on June 19, 2021 by the head of state, Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, in Bunia, capital of Ituri province, it is recalled. ACP/
