Adoption by the National Assembly of the preliminary draft of the calendar for March 2021 session

Kinshasa, March 26 th, 2021 (CPA).- The conference of presidents of parliamentary groups and standing committees of the National Assembly adopted on Wednesday the preliminary draft of the calendar for the ordinary session of March 2021. According to the rapporteur of the lower house of parliament, Joseph Lembi Lubila, the conference of presidents was mainly based on the calendar of activities of the ordinary session in March. « These are matters that can be the subject of our debate and deliberation during the session », he said.

The adopted timetable will be submitted to the plenary for appreciation in accordance with the rules of procedure of the lower house of Parliament. During the meeting, the members of this conference also discussed the membership and functioning of certain parliamentary groups after the advent of the Sacred Union of the Nation.Currently, of 16 parliamentary groups registered in the National Assembly, the majority have 13 groups while the opposition has 3, reported rapporteur Joseph Lembi Lubila. “We met in the old configuration of parliamentary group chairs and committee chairs. And it all happened in a convivial atmosphere.

But this question is complex because within the parliamentary groups, many members do not share the same opinions. And in some parliamentary groups, many members have migrated, many members have left their parliamentary groups for the Sacred Union. There, that’s another problem », said the rapporteur of the National Assembly. Beginning on March 15th, this ordinary session has experienced a delay in drawing up its schedule. The rapporteur of the National Assembly, for his part, maintained that this delay is due to the organization of the funeral of the national deputy Henri-Thomas Yoka, who died on March 10thin South Africa, that is to say 5 days before the opening of the session. « It is African custom that when you are in mourning, you first observe mourning until the funeral, and only after that you resume activities. This is what has been done. The office has resumed its activities”, he replied. ACP/Kayu/JFM
