Kinshasa, August 26th, 2021 (CPA) – The president of the National Assembly, Christophe Mboso and his colleague from the Senate, Prof Modeste Bahati, spoke on Thursday, in the cabinet of the speaker of the lower house of Parliament, on the steps that ‘they will undertake so that peace is safeguarded within political families in DRC.
Christophe Mboso, who received his colleague from the upper house in audience, indicated that they are considering joint strategies for this peace to reign in particular through parliamentary work.
Regarding the parliamentary work in progress in the two chambers of Parliament, Prof. Modeste Bahati affirmed having received from the President of the National Assembly, the assurances relating to the smooth running of the work of the joint committee on the designation of the delegates of the components to the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI).
« The joint committee will soon submit its report to the plenary of the National Assembly », reassured the president of the Senate.
Referring to the work of another parliamentary committee on the state of siege, President Modeste Bahati Lukwebo praised the field work, before acknowledging the merits of the tour carried out as part of the assessment of the state of siege, by Prime Minister Jean Michel Sama Lukonde in Nord Kivu and Ituri.
Modeste Bahati Lukwebo also spoke of the exchanges they had on the start of the parliamentary term in September 2021, an ordinary September session that is essentially budgetary, which will therefore have to examine in particular the finance bill for 2022 fiscal year.
Another subject debated by the two political figures, the funeral of the president of the Provincial Assembly of Haut Katanga, Gabriel Kyungu wa Kumwanza, who died last weekend, in Luanda, Angola.
A delegation from our Parliament is in Lubumbashi, said Christophe Mboso, who praised the memory of the late Kyungu, stressing that his death remains « a great loss for the Sacred Union of the Nation ».
