Christophe Mboso talks with the Swedish Ambassador on parliamentary cooperation issues

Kinshasa, April 21nd, 2021 (CPA).– The president of the National Assembly Christophe Mboso discussed on Wednesday, with the Swedish ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo, Henric Rasbrant, on questions of cooperation between the parliamentarians of two countries, during an audience he granted her at the People’s Palace.

According to diplomat Henric Rasbrant, this interview is part of the ongoing exchanges between the parliaments of two countries on parliamentary activities and training possibilities between the parliaments of two states.

“Sweden is one of DRC’s big partners. We exchanged around a continuous dialogue with President Mboso, a dialogue of continuous exchanges between our two parliaments and, perhaps, training possibilities on the parliamentary activities of two countries”, he declared in substance.

Diplomat Henric Rasbrant also let it be known that he discussed with the president of the lower house of parliament several issues, in particular the long relationship between the two countries which dates from the end of the 19th century with the arrival in Congo of the first missionaries Swedish.

We also spoke, he added, of the presence of Sweden since 1960 and « of our work through the United Nations, in particular of the former General Secretary Dag Hammarskjöld whose 60th anniversary of his death will be commemorated in next September”.

The Swedish diplomat also dwelled on Sweden’s current activities in DRC, through development cooperation based, among other things, on the Swedish government’s new strategy and the various aspects of this strategy including health, issues related to values. democracy, the rule of law, gender equality, respect for human rights, the fight against corruption as well as another aspect relating to sustainable, peaceful and stable communities and societies through various activities, not to mention the issues related to the environment, climate, biodiversity, energy …

In terms of investments, the two personalities spoke about the presence of Swedish companies in DRC in different sectors, with the issue of the business climate and the need to maintain the dialogue on possible improvements with regard to the climate business, international investment and others.
