Bukavu, May 22nd, 2021 (CPA).– The New Dynamics of Civil Society in the Democratic Republic of Congo (NDSCI-RDC) is planning a series of citizen actions in the city of Bukavu to say « NO » to the President’s denialist remarks Rwandan Paul Kagame about the massacres and killings reported in the DRC and contained in the Mapping report.
According to a press release from this citizen structure signed by its national president, Jean Chrysostome Kijana, a campaign to boycott all products from Rwanda to the DRC will be launched in retaliation against the words of Paul Kagame. In this context, a peaceful march is planned for this Saturday, in Bukavu and next Wednesday a sit-in will take place at the border post of Ruzizi 1er, indicates the source.
« These demonstrations aim to express the fed-up of the Congolese people in the face of the incessant, humiliating and negationist declarations of the Rwandan government which never ceases to stir the knife in our still gaping and unhealed wounds, marching on the memory of an entire people.
This is notably the last media outing of Rwandan President Paul Kagame who even spat on one of the sons proudly of the DRC, in the person of Dr Dénis Mukwege, Nobel Peace Prize winner who only demands the justice and reparation following all the horrors endured by our people,”the statement said. The NDSCI opposed to the intervention of foreign armies these demonstrations also aim to support the elements of the national army deployed, the FARDC, on various fronts in the East in order to eradicate insecurity, the statement said, before stressing that the NDSCI opposes any intervention by the foreign armies on Congolese soil. It should be recalled that last Tuesday, during his statement on international media, Rwandan President Paul Kagame denied the existence of the massacres in the DRC and called Denis Mukwege a « puppet » for unknown people.
