Kinshasa, June 25th, 2021 (CPA).- The head of work Boniface Kamanga Muamba of the faculty of medicine of the University of Kinshasa (UNIKIN) supported Thursday, a doctoral thesis in the specialty of physiotherapy, entitled « Elaboration of equations reference spirometric data based on anthropometric data and body composition in a Bantu population aged 18 to 70 in Kinshasa ”.
This doctoral dissertation in physical medicine and resuscitation aimed at developing reference spirometric equations for an apparently healthy adult population, taking the city of Kinshasa as a sample.
According to the thesis author, these spirometric equations serve as rational standards for their exploitation in current pneumological practice.
The results of this doctoral study focused on the surveys carried out by the applicant in the various municipalities of Kinshasa, in order to determine in particular the influence of anthropometric data on the spirometric values.
This thesis earned its author, the supervisor Boniface Kamanga Muamba, the rank of « doctor in motor sciences » conferred on him by the academic secretary general of UNIKIN, Professor Eustache Banza Nsomwe, on behalf of the rector of this establishment, with the mention « the greatest distinction ».
