Heads of religious denominations invited to continue the process of appointing the president of CENI

Kinshasa, March 24th, 2021 (CPA) – The coordinator of the “Commission for Civic Education and Electoral Observation (EDUCIEL)” platform, Andre Kiomba Dibwe Mpo, on Tuesday invited the heads of religious denominations to continue the process of designation of the president of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI), indicates a declaration of this citizen structure, a copy of which has reached CPA.

According to Andre Dibwe Mpo, the process of appointing CENI facilitators should lead to the renewal of the electoral administration team, initiate preparations for the new electoral cycle and reassure the Nation about the effective holding of general elections in 2023.

EDUCIEL coordinator requires from the candidate president of CENI, a number of values, namely, wisdom, experience, conciliation and openness, emphasizing the need for each candidate to be sufficiently equipped on electoral matters in their technical, political and social aspects.

For EDUCIEL, candidates for this post will have to take the measure of the responsibility that awaits them, taking into account the ethical and moral dimension.

This civil society platform specializing in electoral governance supports the approach of the National Assembly aimed at dealing with the issue of CENI reform as a matter of extreme urgency.

EDUCIEL also calls on the Speaker of the lower house, his office and the entire plenary of the National Assembly to schedule the debate on urgent electoral reforms. ACP/Kayu
