Minister of State Rose Mutombo reassures of the proper administration of justice in North Kivu and Ituri

Kinshasa, September 1st, 2021 (CPA).- The Minister of State for Justice and Keeper of the Seals, Rose Mutombo Kiese, reassured, Tuesday, of the good administration of justice in the provinces of Ituri and North Kivu, during the press briefing jointly with the Minister of Communication and Media, Patrick Muyaya Katembwe.

The latter previously circumscribed the framework of this meeting which responds to the principle of accountability, a practical requirement of the government of the Prime Minister, Jean Michel Sama Lukonde, before recalling the stay of the head of government with a large ministerial delegation in the provinces. of Ituri and North Kivu, during which the ministers carried out activities related to their respective sectors.

Speaking on the issue relating to the administration of justice in the two aforementioned provinces, Minister of State Mutombo said that it was an evaluation in the field of justice and particularly the proper functioning of the various judicial bodies, both military and civil.

She noted that the field of justice is facing major challenges, particularly with regard to prison infrastructure dating from the colonial period, logistics, catering and health care to which the government is called upon to respond in order to improve conditions. conditions of detention in the country’s prisons. « We must rehabilitate and build new prisons, » said the Minister of State, before affirming that her presence in the two provinces under the state of siege enabled her to assess the implementation of her Circular. authorizing common law courts to be operational. To date, both civil and military courts function normally.

Encouraging presence of the Prime Minister

For his part, Minister Muyaya, who took stock of the management of the state of siege in Ituri and North Kivu, noted the encouraging presence of the Prime Minister who was listening to the provincial elected representatives as well. , civil society than the military, before emphasizing the good behavior of loyalist troops who are facing terrorist elements.
