Minister Patrick Muyaya and Dr. Denis Mukwege discuss the challenges of change in DRC

Bukavu, June 24th, 2021 (CPA).- The Minister in charge of Communication and Media, government spokesperson, Patrick Muyaya Katembwe, who arrived in Bukavu, Sud Kivu province, from Goma on Wednesday, met, the same day, Dr. Denis Mukwege, physician director of Panzi general referral hospital, with whom he discussed in particular the challenges of change in DRC via a communication which presents a country which treats its ailments, cures them and which advanced.

The minister, who spoke at length with the Nobel Peace Prize winner, praised the work of taking charge of women victims of rape by this renowned gynecologist, believing that the government must support his efforts.

I consider that we, as a government, must work to support the works that it does because it makes it possible to repair our sisters, our mothers who have been durably affected by these barbarities that the country has known. I hope he will always have this strength, this energy that I hope is contagious so that we can all engage in the fight which will also lead us to bring back justice, to restore peace and to bring the development of which our country needs so much”, said Patrick Muyaya.

The Minister of Communication and Media confided, at the end of his visit, that the government is doing everything possible to support the work that Denis Mukwege and all his staff at Panzi hospital are doing in taking in charge of women survivors of sexual violence.

He then indicated that « Denis Mukwege is one of the vectors that the Democratic Republic of Congo can use today » to show the conscience and the efforts that the country is making to put an end particularly to this tragedy of women victims of the barbarity of the enemies of the Republic.

“Dr. Denis Mukwege, in his field, is a champion who is known worldwide and it is our duty, with him, to see how to give more space to what he says and to his experience, so that it can to build up the young generations in terms of commitment and patriotism, since ultimately, there is no better proof of patriotism than to commit to others”, concluded Patrick Muyaya.

Arrived in Bukavu on Wednesday for a quick visit, through the port of Ihuzi, the Minister in charge of Communication and Media was greeted by the provincial Minister in charge of Transport and means of communication, Claude Swedy Basila, the provincial director of CPA/Sud Kivu, Vainqueur Kalafula and his colleagues from RTNC and RENATELSAT, Patrick Kyungu and Damas Munembwe.

In addition, the Minister in charge of Communication and Media chaired, on the sidelines of this lightning visit to the capital of Sud Kivu province, a working session with the provincial directors of CPA, RTNC and RENATELSAT, during which they presented him with the challenges of these public establishments.

During this meeting held in the presence of the provincial governor, Theo Ngwabidje, the provincial directors Vainqueur Kalafula Lusu (CPA), Patrick Rogatien Kyungu Silimu (RTNC) and Damas Munembwe (RENATELSAT), explained to the minister that their offices of representation need government support, both provincial and central, for work worthy of public media.

On behalf of CPA/Sud Kivu, the provincial director, Kalafula Lusu, exposed the problems mainly related to the work tool as well as to the visibility of this provincial directorate for its influence in the entity, noting that CPA must also take up the challenge of rehabilitating its dilapidated building.

RTNC and RENATELSAT, for their part, presented to the Minister the equipment file for quality work.

Minister Patrick Muyaya reassured his interlocutors of his will and his vision for the influence of these three services constituting his hobbyhorse.

He promised to spare no effort to meet the challenge, before calling on the provincial governor to do what is in his power to help them move forward. ACP/
