National Assembly: Establishment of the validation commission for delegates to CENI

Kinshasa, August 13th, 2021 (CPA).- National elected voted for the resolution on the establishment of the joint Majority-Opposition committee, responsible for examining the files of delegates from different components to the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) , during Thursday’s plenary at the People’s Palace, chaired by President Christophe Mboso.

For this purpose, the plenary gave 48 hours to the joint committee to submit its report.

Previously, the president of the lower house of Parliament, Christophe Mboso, explained the reasons behind the establishment of the said commission, including the need for time.

« The plenary of the National Assembly found itself obliged to program the item on the agenda relating to the establishment of the joint committee in order to respect the timetable for the installation of the members of CENI”, added Christophe Mboso.

The calendar for the appointment of CENI animators covers the period from Wednesday July 14th to July 27th, 2021, during which the components (Majority, Opposition and Civil Society) were supposed to appoint their delegates to CENI, due to 6 for the majority, 4 for the opposition and 5 for civil society.
