President Felix Tshisekedi declares a day of national mourning following the death of Idriss Déby of Chad

Kinshasa, April 21nd, 2021 (CPA).- The Head of State Felix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo declared a day of national mourning in the Democratic Republic of Congo on Friday, April 23rd, 2021, the date of the funeral of the President of Chad, Marshal Idriss Deby Itno, who died on Tuesday, April 20th, 2021, indicates a press release from the Presidency of the Republic.

By this morning, notes this press release signed by the Chief of Staff of the President of the Republic, Guy Guylain Nyembo, President Felix Tshisekedi, also President in office of the African Union (AU), assures the people of the Republic of Chad his commitment to stand by his side during this ordeal.

The Head of State expressed his deep indignation at the despicable act which took the life of this dignitary attached to the defense of the integrity of his country the Republic of Chad as well as to the values ​​of African unity .

He offered on his own behalf, that of the Congolese people and on behalf of the African Union office his most saddened condolences to the family of the illustrious disappeared as well as to the Chadian people, while calling on him to work in unity with a view to creating the conditions for lasting peace in the country.

Chadian President Idriss Deby died on Tuesday of injuries while commanding his troops on the front line in fighting against rebels in the north. ACP/
