President Félix Tshisekedi for a concerted solution to the Ethiopian Renaissance dam issue

Kinshasa, May 4th, 2021 (CPA) – Sudanese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Mariam Al Mansoura, declared on Monday that there is a concordance of views with President Felix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, current President of the African Union (UA) on the question of the Great Ethiopian Renaissance dam, for a concerted solution before the second filling of the said dam.

The head of Sudanese diplomacy made it known, at the end of the exchanges she had at the city of the African Union, with the Head of State, Felix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, on the question of this roadblock between Ethiopia, Sudan and Egypt.

For Ms. Mariam Al Mansoura, who carried a message from her President to her Congolese counterpart, an agreement from the three countries concerned is necessary before the second filling of this dam.

« It is a question of a transboundary river, which is governed by international laws and rules, which requires the advice and expertise of international partners, » said Ms. Mariam Al Masoura.

In this regard, she said, President Felix Antoine Tshisekedi indicated that he is in consultation, as current Chairman of AU, with the General Secretary of the United Nations as well as with the American Administration.

« A special envoy from the United States of America is expected very soon in Kinshasa to work with experts from the three countries concerned, with a view to finding a common solution », announced the Head of State Felix Tshisekedi.

The Sudanese Minister of Foreign Affairs also announced the next visit of President Felix Antoine Tshisekedi to Khartoum to, she said, discuss all these questions with a view to finding a “win-win” solution.

The Sudanese Minister of Foreign Affairs was led to the Head of State by Christophe Lutundula Apala, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister in charge of Foreign Affairs.
