President Félix Tshisekedi soon in Goma to reassure himself of the care of the victims

Kinshasa, May 31st, 2021 (CPA).- The President of the Republic, Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo promised, on Saturday, to go to Goma in North Kivu, in the company of the First Lady, Denise Nyakeru Tshisekedi to realize coordination of humanitarian actions and bring comfort to his disaster-stricken compatriots.

The President of the Republic, who made this known during a press conference held at the Nation Palace in Kinshasa, was very affected by the humanitarian crisis arising from the natural disaster in Goma.

« As soon as the airports are open, that of Goma can be and Kavumu, the first one that will be open in the region will allow me to travel with the First Lady to see firsthand how we are taking charge of our compatriots, ”said Félix Tshisekedi.

President Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, on the same occasion, denounced the campaign of manipulation and the settling of scores leading to believe that the government does not control the situation.

Appeal for disaster relief

The President of the Republic Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo has appealed for help, solidarity and the mobilization of compatriots to support the government in dealing with this situation which is totally unforeseen in the state budget.

 « There is certainly a budget that will be released to deal with this situation, but donations from all sides will be welcome to help our compatriots, » he said.

Félix Tshisekedi who thought of humanitarian assistance, thanked all the humanitarian organizations who have expressed their availability to come to the aid of the populations of Goma in North Kivu.

While acknowledging that the humanitarian situation in Goma is serious, the Head of State nevertheless affirmed that it is under control, referring to information reported to him by the government mission returning to this city.

“These compatriots who have not ceased to be victims of a lot of abuses sometimes by armed groups, they are now victims of nature itself. I would like to say here that the situation is certainly serious, but it is under control”,

« Ladies and gentlemen of the press, this is a serious time, of course, but not to despair, » he said before expressing all his compassion and solidarity with the people of Goma.
