Kinshasa, April 26th, 2021 (CPA).- The President of the Republic Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo urged parliamentarians to invest the Sama Lukonde government, during an interview he had with them on Saturday in the marquee of the city of the African Union in the town of Ngaliema, said a source close to the Presidency of the Republic. « We expect you to invest the Government to face the country’s emergencies … The country needs major reforms and major measures but which must go through the government … which awaits your investiture. Let us avoid suffering the anger of our people … invest this government because time is running out. The war is raging in the east and the far north, the social situation is at its lowest, « said the Head of State. While thanking the assistance for the interest it gave to this exchange, the Head of State Félix Tshisekedi drew the attention of the national deputies in particular to the discipline which must animate them and to the wisdom with which they must. to show. “Let’s be careful, the same people who cheered us on may ‘shoot’ us down tomorrow. Let us not defile this glorious act which we have accomplished. Let us stop externalizing discontent because not everyone can find themselves in the Government despite good faith. We need discipline to achieve our goals”, he underlined before recalling his leitmotif: “the people first”.
There will be no postponement of the elections….
Regarding the elections, President Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo said he was ready for the 2023 elections. “There will be elections, I will not accept a slip. There will be no postponement, but rather be reassured that the census is not incompatible with the elections,”he said. To this end, he asked each deputy to go and collect the wishes of the populations during parliamentary recess and return with the specifications to be submitted to the government. President Félix Tshisekedi, on this occasion, recalled that among the expected reforms, there is that concerning nationality. He urged the people’s elected representatives to look into this issue. The Head of State considers that the Congolese of the diaspora cannot be put aside, arguing that they are people who are fighting for the well-being of the country.
For him, it will be necessary to allow Congolese who have acquired other nationalities to participate actively and more in the debates of their country. He invited national deputies to fight against anti-values including corruption and to participate in the reconstruction of the country.
