Kinshasa, August 11th, 2021 (CPA) .- The stability of eastern DRC will increase opportunities for even more investments in this country, said the Ambassador of Great Britain in Kinshasa, Émily Maltman, to the outcome of a hearing granted to him on Tuesday by the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Christophe Lutundula Apala Pen’Apala.
« We discussed with Deputy Prime Minister Christophe Lutundula as with other members of the government that I had to meet, on the stability of the eastern part which will increase opportunities for even more investments in the DRC », said the British diplomat who also stressed that her country is working on this, in partnership with the African Union (AU) whose President Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo is chairing for the year 2021-2022.
Regarding the collaboration between the United Kingdom and the African Union, Ms. Émily Maltman said that President Félix Tshisekedi, current president of the AU launched the Green Economy Action Plan through the ‘Africa, following close cooperation with his country and the African Union Commission to invest in green economic growth across the continent, and also invest in the economy following the impact of COVID-19 which has affected all the countries of the world.
The two personalities also discussed issues related to strengthening bilateral relations between Kinshasa and London.
“We discussed our bilateral relations and our partnership. We are active in several areas here in the DRC, including health, education, humanitarian aid, clean water, agriculture and the promotion of the green economy. We are also active on the issue of stability in the East, ”said the British ambassador.
Strengthening of bilateral relations between Kinshasa-Brazzaville and Kinshasa-Harare
Deputy Prime Minister Christophe Lutundula also exchanged, in turn with the ambassadors of the Republic of Congo and Zimbabwe in the DRC on the strengthening of bilateral relations between Kinshasa and their respective capitals.
With the Ambassador of Congo / Brazzaville, Clément Yandoma who is also vice-dean of the diplomatic corps in the DRC, the two personalities emphasized the excellent relations between the two closest capitals in the world.
« This momentum of good relations between our two peoples should be maintained and amplified under the leadership of President Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo and his counterpart Denis Sassou Nguesso », underlined Ambassador Clément Yandoma.
However, with the Zimbabwean diplomat, Yohanne Tomana, deeper discussions on the exchange of agricultural experiences between Zimbabwe and the DRC were on the agenda.
