Sweden to double aid from USD 40 million to USD 80 million by next year

Kinshasa, May 27th, 2021 (CPA).- Sweden will double its assistance to DRC, from 40 to 80 million dollars, by next year, announced on Thursday in Kinshasa, the Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Kingdom of Sweden in DRC, Henric Rasbrant, during an audience that the Prime Minister granted him to the Prime Minister’s office.

“I congratulated the Prime Minister on his appointment and the appointment of the new government. I also expressed my feelings for the victims of Nyiragongo volcanic eruption in Goma. I express my hope that the situation will return to normal as soon as possible. Afterwards, we discussed the common priorities between Sweden and DRC », said the ambassador.

He also congratulated the Prime Minister for “his commitment to continue the reform process which has been started in various areas. » And targeted with him » a few different common priorities such as democratic development, the rule of law, respect for human rights, gender equality, the fight against corruption, the fight against impunity. « 

Sweden will double its development cooperation in DRC, from USD 40 million last year, to USD 60 million this year, and USD 80 million next year.
