Kinshasa June 17th 2021 (CPA).– The 7th meeting of the economic conjuncture committee (CCE) held on Wednesday with sectoral ministers, under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Jean Michel Sama Lukonde, drew the population’s attention to the need to observe the barrier measures in the face of the 3rd wave of Covid-19 to avoid re-containment.
At the end of this meeting, the Minister of State in charge of Planning, Christian Mwando, for this purpose expressed the concern of CCE in the face of this resurgence of the disease, before calling for vigilance and respect for barrier measures which were decreed by the Head of State.
This meeting, he also said, examined the economic situation of the whole of the Democratic Republic of Congo where it was found, overall, that the situation of the country is stable and that the exchange rate remains stable at near FC 1,999 for 1 US dollar, at the official, and FC 2,022 for 1 US dollar, at the parallel market.
At the global level, Minister Mwando said that there is an optimism of growth which is estimated at 5.6%, specifying that with this growth, the country hopes to have spinoffs, at the local level, drawn from the economy exterior.
On the level of exemptions, the minister indicated that there is a decrease in the rate of exemptions, which, according to the latter, is a good thing.
The prime minister, he said, urged us to remain vigilant about fraud in this sector, stressing that the finance and planning ministers have been asked to review the 35 decrees ministerial on the Investment Code currently being signed, so that this does not lead to fraud at the level of the populations.
The Prime Minister concluded by urging the governor of the Central Bank to respect the macroeconomic stability pact, before calling on the Minister in charge of Employment to continue the work in progress on the identification of contracts, with a view to setting up measures leading to the formalization of employment and work contracts in DRC
The Ministers of State in charge of Planning, Christian Mwando, and for Budget, Aime Boji, the ministers in charge of Foreign Trade, Jean-Lucien Mbussa, that of National Economy, Justin Kalumba, that of Labor, Employment and Social Welfare, Claudine Ndusi and of Mines, Antoinette N’Samba Kalambayi took part in this 7th economic meeting.
