The diocesan presidents of Caritas invited to suggest possible solutions to the challenges of ASSEPKIN

Kinshasa, May 22nd, 2021 (CPA).- Bishop Jean Pierre Kwambamba, bishop of the diocese of Kenge and president of the provincial episcopal commission of Kinshasa, invited the diocesan presidents of the Caritas and development commission to suggest possible solutions to the various challenges major in the ecclesiastical province of Kinshasa, at the opening of the work of the session of diocesan delegates at the Nganda Catholic Center in the commune of Kintambo.

The bishop president of the provincial episcopal commission of Caritas and development of the Provincial Episcopal Assembly of Kinshasa (ASSEPKIN) assigned to this session two essential objectives, namely, to produce solid solutions on administrative issues consisting in proposing a provincial structure for coordinating activities, developing projects and works to be initiated as actors in the transformation of the material and financial situation of ASSEPKIN. He justified the major challenges of diocesan presidents as emergencies due to reports highlighting the deplorable situation of the ecclesiastical province, among other things in terms of the imbalance between the expectations that many rest on the Archdiocese and its efficient limits on the ground then that this ecclesiastical province should radiate through its actions and provide assistance to other ecclesial structures.

Bishop Jean Pierre Kwambamba stressed to the diocesan delegates that the first expert technical body to meet the challenges is the provincial episcopal commission for Caritas and development, according to the objectives defined by ASSEPKIN. “The diocesan presidents will have to work to deepen the answers resulting from the questionnaires sent to the diocesan commissions and to the bursars in view of their importance, starting from the orientations and concrete solutions coming from the two orders mentioned above, recalling that the pastoral action of the Catholic Church is also expressed through works which are above all places of evangelization and witness and other works which can generate income, ”said Bishop Jean Pierre Kwambamba.

He let them know that the emergencies to be organized on the part of the Church through charitable works in case of emergency and the realization of these works involve the development of research and the production of funding, hence the use your expertise especially during this period of the Covid-19 pandemic which has significantly weakened the financial capacity of the dioceses. In addition to these challenges, Bishop the president of the provincial episcopal commission of Kinshasa also, pinned another challenge to be taken up, that of the autonomy of these structures and the duty of solidarity.

As a reminder, the ecclesiastical province of Kinshasa includes the dioceses of central Kongo (Boma, Matadi, and Kisantu), those of grand Bandundu (Idiofa, Kikwit, Kenge, and Popokabaka) and the archdiocese of Kinshasa. ACP/
