Kinshasa, August 12th, 2021 (CPA).- The President of the Republic, Felix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, reassured both national and international opinion on the effective organization, by DRC, of 9th Games of La Francophonie, with regard to of the audience granted to the city of AU, lastAugust 6th, to a delegation of the International Organization of Francophonie (OIF), led by its administrator Mr. Montpetit, on an evaluation mission in Kinshasa.
The Head of State, on this occasion, expressed his determination to boost the preparations for the said games and their outcome, in accordance with the charges that had been agreed, in order to offer, to the Congolese and to the nationals of the member countries of La Francophonie, Games worthy of the name, at the height of the ambitions of DRC.
OIF senior official, who came to assess the progress of preparations for the Francophonie games and convinced of President Felix Tshisekedi’s determination, also affirmed, at the end of the hearing, that this meeting was « a frank and productive exchange with a view to understanding the extent of the work that remains to be done », before demonstrating the undeniable desire of the government of the Republic to ensure the success of the games.
This delegation was led to the Head of State by Christophe Lutundula Apala and Ms. Tshombe Matchik, respectively Minister of State in charge of Foreign Affairs and special representative of the Head of State for la Francophonie.
Ambassador Desire Nyaruhirira, Xenon Kabamba Kasongo and Ms. Bestine Kazadi, respectively, special advisor to the General Secretary of the Francophonie, director of games and special advisor to the Head of State in charge of regional cooperation, also took part in this hearing.
The specifications for the organization of the 9th Games of La Francophonie in DRC were signed, on Thursday, October 31st, 2019, by the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF), in accordance with the Statutes of the International Committee of the Games of La Francophonie (CIJF), and the rules of the Games of La Francophonie, it is said.
Their postponement to the summer of 2022 was officially requested by the government of DRC on April 21st, 2020, because of the state of health emergency declared in almost all the countries of the planet, as part of the fight against COVID-19, it is recalled. ACP /
