Kinshasa, July 17th, 2021 (CPA).– The National Assembly adopted, Friday, for the 4th time, the law extending the state of siege, for two weeks, in the provinces of North Kivu and Ituri, during the plenary session chaired by its president, Christophe Mbuso, at the People’s Palace.
Three hundred and thirty-seven (337) deputies out of three hundred and thirty-nine (339) deputies present voted yes, no deputy voted no and two deputies abstained.
Christophe Mbuso, who thanked the national deputies for this vote, explained that after the stage of the lower house, the adopted text will be sent for a second reading in the Senate.
Previously, the Minister of State, Minister in charge of Justice, Rose Moomba, gave the reasons for the extension of the state of siege, before the adoption of the draft text.
To justify this extension, it retained the positive advances in the context of securing the population and their property observed on the ground in these two provinces since the declaration of the state of siege by the Head of State, Félix. Tshisekedi. ACP/
