Cannabis packages cremated in Mwene Ditu

Mwene Ditu, July 10th, 2021 (CPA).- The public prosecutor’s office at the Mwene Ditu peace court in Lomami province recently incinerated nearly eight packages containing around 160 hemp candles, seized thanks to the vigilance of the officers of the judicial police (OPJ) committed to securing the facilities of the station of the Société Nationale des Chemins de Fer du Congo (SNCC).

According to magistrate André Nyembo wa Lombe, deputy public prosecutor and chief prosecutor at the Mwene Ditu peace court who presided over the incineration of these hemp candles, this gesture is part of the fight against the consumption and marketing of these products very toxic to human health and prohibited by the laws of the country.

The owners of these toxic and prohibited substances were preparing to transport them to Haut-Katanga province aboard the New Express Diamant Béton train, he said.

In the space of two months, this judicial body destroyed around 104 large packages of hemp in this environment, reported the source.

It should be noted that a drug trafficker was convicted and recently detained in the city prison. ACP/
