Bukavu, June 19th, 2021 (CPA).- Children living with disabilities in South Kivu, on the occasion of the celebration of the International Day of the African Child on June 16 in Bukavu, pleaded for attention to the rights of children living with disabilities.
A young blind girl, reading her speech in braille writing, lamented the fact that the province of South Kivu has only one support center for children living with disabilities, regretting the fact that her deaf-mute colleagues had too difficult to continue their studies after the primary cycle.
She blasted the unhygienic conditions in which they operate, calling on society as a whole not to discriminate against children with disabilities while stressing that once trained and exploited according to their abilities, a disabled child can be useful to society.
The Provincial Minister of Gender, Family and Children, Cosmos Bishisha present at this ceremony, promised these disabled children to include in the September budget session the construction for next year of a second childcare center. disabled after that of « HERI KWETU » located in the commune of Ibanda in Bukavu.
This ceremony, which brought together several disabled children and provincial and humanitarian dignitaries, was organized by the provincial division of family and child in collaboration with UNICEF, it is recalled. ACP/
