Holding in Kenge of a capacity building workshop for members of HRDs in Kwango province

Kenge, June 19th, 2021 (CPA.– The acting Governor of Kwango province, Tite Munda Ngaand, at the opening, launched a three-day training workshop in Kenge on Friday from June 17 to 19, 2021 and focused on the theme “Fundamentals of Human Rights: monitoring, self-protection, gender and democratic values”, organized by the NGO “Cause Rurale” for human rights defenders (HRDs) members of civil society organizations (OSC) found the PCA on site.

The provincial authority, which thanked those in charge of this structure for having thought of building the capacities of local civil society actors, invited the participants to these meetings to attend and participate actively in order to contribute effectively to the securing human beings and human rights defenders.

For her part, the president of the NGO “Cause Rurale”, Ms. Pélagie Makiedika, indicated that this workshop is part of the Democracy, Human Rights and Good Governance Program which is one of the main programs of this event. structure in this part of the Republic.

Pélagie Makiedika specified that his NGO has been participating, since 2016, in the Human Rights project through a consortium of a few national organizations, adding that the first phase, which lasted 42 months, ended in 2020 and, since January 2021 the second phase called “DDH” (Human Rights Defenders) began for a period of 24 months.

She also informed that the six CSOs formed as a consortium to implement the project for the protection of human rights defenders in the DRC with the support of the delegation of the European Union are in particular, the Voice of voiceless, the New Civil Society, the Rural Cause, the Friends of Nelson Mandela, the Congolese League for the Defense and Promotion of Human Rights and the Permanent Consultative Framework for Congolese Women.

The overall objective of this project is to contribute to the promotion of human rights and the protection of human rights defenders in the DRC. It also aims to bring the population to a perfect knowledge of their fundamental rights in order to better claim them, to strengthen the operational capacities of women and young human rights defenders, as well as to encourage the authorities to adopt behaviors, skills and practices favorable to the promotion and defense of human rights by getting involved in the regulation and resolution of human rights violations, it should be remembered.
