Mbuji-Mayi, July 3rd, 2021 (CPA).- The provincial government of Kasai Oriental is working to put an end to the phenomenon of kidnapping recorded for almost three months in the city of Mbuji-Mayi where adults and young people kidnapped by strangers who demand a ransom before any release.
This new mode of insecurity was discussed during the Council of Ministers chaired by Ms. Jeannette Longa Muswamba, interim governor, referring to the recent kidnapping of 19-year-old Ms. Agnès Tshiala.
Provincial Minister of the Interior and provincial government spokesman Lazare Tshipinda Kasonga, who made mention of this in the minutes of the meeting, maintained that 200,000FC were given by the parents of the victim out of the required US $ 500 by the kidnappers, before his relaxation.
The provincial government has opened investigations in order to find the perpetrators of these acts and thus put an end to this practice which is taking worrying proportions.
