Maniema: ousted governor Auguy Musafiri N’Kola stripped of his Immunities

Kindu, May 29th, 2021 (CPA).- The deposed governor of Maniema province, Auguy Musafiri Nkola, is stripped of his immunity during a plenary session of the Provincial Assembly chaired last Wednesday by Gertrude Kitembo Mpala, its president.

This lifting of the immunity of the former provincial governor follows a requisition from the Court of Cassation seeking authorization to prosecute this deposed political figure by a motion of no confidence accusing him of embezzling 123,000 US dollars fruits of mining royalties from the Bangubangu Salamabila sector in the Kabambare territory.

For Thierry Balisungu Kamwanga, elected from the territory of Kabambare, the vote for this lifting of immunity by 18 provincial deputies out of 19 voters had the merit of educating the population on the destination of this large sum of money for which the chief the said sector pays the costs to the central prison of Makala in Kinshasa.
