Lubumbashi, July 10th, 2021 (CPA).- The new metropolitan archbishop of Lubumbashi, Bishop Fulgence Muteba Mugalu, echoed the message of His Holiness Pope Francis relating to prayer, love of neighbor and the union of all for progress of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
The prelate launched this message during a mass he celebrated in SS Peter and Paul Cathedral in Lubumbashi, capital of Haut-Katanga province.
In his homily, he thanked all Catholic Christians for the warm welcome he received on his arrival in Lubumbashi from Kilwa.
Previously, the diocesan administrator of the Archdiocese of Lubumbashi, Bishop Denis Moto, expressed his joy at welcoming a new authority from the Family of God Church in Lubumbashi.
He asked all Christians concerned to join their prayer in spiritual fellowship in order to help him lead the faithful in the faith.
Before his appointment, Bishop Fulgence Muteba Mugalu was bishop of the diocese of Kilwa-Kasenga in the ecclesiastical province of Lubumbashi.
He will be enthroned in his new functions on Saturday July 10 during a solemn mass concelebrated by the apostolic nuncio in DR Congo and Cardinal Fridolin Ambongo, archbishop of Kinshasa on the square of the cathedral. ACP/
