The ‘Nothing Without Women’ Movement positively assesses the situation of women

Mbuji-Mayi, July 3rd, 2021 (CPA) .- The focal point of the ASBL Movement Nothing Without Women in Kasai Oriental, Ms. Rose Mbuyi Kanku positively assessed the evolution of East Kasai women and the promotion of their rights 61 years after the accession of the DRC to national and international sovereignty, during an interview with the press Thursday at the headquarters of the structure in the municipality of Diulu in Mbuji-Mayi.

She said that since then, the situation of women has improved markedly, given her remarkable presence in decision-making spheres in the political, economic and social fields, while noting the fact that efforts are still to be made to parity as enshrined in the fundamental law.

For Ms. Rose Mbuyi, the group of women leaders in the province must do everything to raise the awareness of women’s associations, in order to push their members to internalize the fight for a strong presence on the ground.

She also pleads for an effective supervision of women for their empowerment in order to crown their current participation of more than 50% in the family budget. ACP/NIG
