The DRC has passed the bar of 39,000 confirmed cases of Covid-19

Kinshasa, June 25th, 2021 (CPA).- The Democratic Republic of Congo surpassed the threshold of thirty-nine thousand (39,000) cases of Covid-19 on Thursday by registering four hundred and fifty-eight (458) new confirmed cases out of 1,325 samples tested , reports the daily bulletin of the technical secretariat of the national multisectoral response committee to the Covid-19 pandemic, which reached the CPA on Friday.

Of the 458 new cases notified, there are 377 in Kinshasa, 50 in Kongo Central, 14 in Ituri, 11 in Haut-Uélé, 5 in Lualaba and 1 in North Kivu. Two new deaths were recorded among the confirmed cases in the Covid treatment centers (CTCo) in Kinshasa. In addition, there are twenty-two (22) new healings in the CTCo and among the patients followed at home in Kinshasa.

This bulletin also indicates that the province of Kongo Central exceeded on the same Thursday, June 24, 2021 the bar of two thousand (2,000) confirmed cases of Covid-19, registering fifty (50) new confirmed cases.

Since the declaration of the epidemic on March 10, 2020, the cumulative number of cases is 39,395, including 39,394 laboratory-confirmed cases and 1 probable case. In total, there were 898 deaths and 28,137 people cured.

The Covid-19 test is free in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, except for travelers who will have to pay US $ 30.

Twenty-four (24) of the twenty-six (26) provinces of the DRC are affected by this epidemic. These are the provinces of Kinshasa (28,737 cases), North Kivu (3,113 cases), Haut-Katanga (2,162 cases), Kongo Central (2,029 cases), Lualaba (966 cases), South Kivu (954 cases), Tshopo (431 cases), Ituri (353 cases), Haut-Uélé (259 cases), Ecuador (84 cases), Nord-Ubangi (65 cases), Haut-Lomami (49 cases), Kasaï (44 cases), Maniema (42 cases), Kasaï Central (30 cases), Kasaï Oriental (24 cases), Tanganyika (20 cases), Kwilu (10 cases ), Sud-Ubangi (7 cases), Bas-Uélé (7 cases), Kwango (5 cases), Tshuapa (3 cases), Mai-Ndombe (2 cases) and Lomami (2).

49,102 people vaccinated in the DRC with the AstraZeneca vaccine from the start of vaccination until June 23, 2021

The same bulletin also indicates that forty-nine thousand one hundred and two (49,102) people have been vaccinated in 8 provinces of the DRC with the AstraZeneca vaccine, since the start of the vaccination, on April 19, 2021, until Wednesday, June 23, 2021.

Five hundred and ninety-three (593) new people received the dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 in five provinces of the DRC, including 286 in North Kivu, 114 in South Kivu, 100 in Kinshasa, 75 in Haut Katanga and 18 in Lualaba.

The number of people vaccinated by province is as follows: 20,189 in Kinshasa, 9,063 in Haut-Katanga, 7,669 in Kongo Central, 5,317 in North-Kivu, 3,171 in Lualaba, 3,148 in South-Kivu, 425 in Haut-Katanga -Uélé and 120 in Ituri.
