Kinshasa, August 7th, 2021 (CPA).- The United Nations (UN) pleads for rapid and equitable access to the vaccine against Covid-19 in the world, reports a press release from this organization which reached the CPA on Friday. According to the source, the Covid-19 vaccine must reach everyone and must be available everywhere as quickly as possible. « It is a question of equity and justice, but it is also essential to avoid the emergence of new variants capable of withstanding current vaccines and undermining national vaccination efforts, » added the same source. « We need more than 11 billion doses to immunize 70% of the world’s population – a critical threshold for ending the acute phase of this pandemic, » the UN says.
She stresses that the world needs a global immunization plan to at least double vaccine production and ensure equitable distribution, using Covax as a platform. ACP/
